How Technology might be about to Kill us.

Welcome to a theory about where technology might lead us in the future, through the evolution of the smartphone and the human need to constantly reach the next stage. This isn't guaranteed to happen, of course, but it's certainly a possibility, one we should be quite careful of....

  • Why no M1 Mac coverage yet? Well, I want to be able to bring the best I can and with info no other reviewer has. Stuff like this: I’m running a DirectX 11 32-bit Windows program built for x86 on a 64-bit Wine layer for Intel Macs that itself is being emulated via an x86 to ARM translator on a 12-15W mobile CPU. And it actually works. It’s bloody bananas. Next week brings two lengthy reviews I can’t wait to share with you.

  • "All this tech will lead to people becoming less intelligent." Maybe in some ways. We may forget collectively how to work the math out by hand; on the other hand, however, people now have access to more information than ever. I'm always learning new things using the internet. For instance, I was just looking up how system-on-chips, package-on-packages, and system-in-package are constructed and work. Exciting things. At least, to me.

  • Oh man. Such a beautiful video, so many apt cues. At first I thought you were speaking my mind out, and with them I realized it the foreshadowing, that made me collapse the myriad learnings into clear concepts all this while I was in the video, within the time you gave a cue and gave the name just seconds later. For eg from rush to driven by competition, ai made behind closed doors. And that's just few examples. Hats off.... Is this video being made in real time with an ai? 😅 am in an a very elaborate version of the Truman show?

  • I think you're only talking from Computer Science technology point of view and you're missing out plenty of other technologies. For example, while natural selection alone might lead us to "devolve" other technologies such as CRISPR will allow us to evolve us quicker in the direction we want to.

  • AI will rule the world... bwahaha, how naive. Don't be sheeple, use your brains to think. Again, blue&red AI is all programmed. It is a program that DOES NOT NEED anything. It's just extremely successful at finding patterns and it found that decreasing one of the input parameters leads towards solving the problem. That still doesn't mean that it has the NEED to protect itself, the Earth, or humanity. Even if it becomes ultra-smart and it gains unlimited intelligence, it has NO DRIVE, no URGES, nothing. It can't even have the need for self-preservation, because it doesn't have the necessary stimulus such as fear, joy, etc. Intelligence alone is not equal to consciousness, it's just a part of it. There's nothing alive inside to feel. Simple as that. The fear of AI taking over the world is DUMB and people thinking otherwise are DUMB! However, it's a powerful tool in the hands of someone who would order it to do something like "wipe the Earth clean of life," yeah - that could get messy...

  • with the intelligence worry, I believe this would happen but it will stabilize as we cant have progression in technology without people understanding how this tech is created. So they would have to be more intelligent then the general public to create these things and theirs also the push for higher education so although basic knowledge is outsourced to technology, a different type of intelligence may arise.

  • what if instead of seeing AI as an invention we can tweak to be safe, we start seeing AI as a baby. You can't guess all the problems he will cause but you can teach him love, hate, have empathy, he can learn to think in any way thats shown to him, like a language. AI is like a human baby, the big difference is that a human baby is innately adapted for human society and an AI doesn't have those preconceptions. Other differences are the ones we program it to have; A goal to help us, adult capabilities, inability to express want. We are trying to build the most capable, helpful, perfect and smart, adult in the world without letting it have the childhood to learn it. You can't code humanity, but you can teach it. The problem of AI is ultimately its lack of empathy, so instead of chopping its arm off so it can't hit anyone, let's give it humanity so it doesn't want to. just a thought.

  • I dont really agree that using technology makes us think less. It is true that some basic skills like navigation become more obsolete however the stimuli our brains gets increases every year. Sure we may not be able to get to the grocery store without our phones but I would say we are forced to think about a lot more in our daily lives just because there's more input. After all the brain is a machine with many moving parts but I think evolving out some of its skills will have benefits in other areas
